Sunday, September 1sth - Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost with communion
This Sunday, we will be led in worship by Rev. Larry Wright who will also celebrate communion with us. In the “Time for all Ages”, Larry will discuss “Back to school”. Larry’s sermon is called “A New Year?”.

BIBLE STUDY – Rev. Dr. John Harvey will be leading a weekly study on book of Genesis beginning in October. If you are interested in participating in this study, sing-up sheets will be available in September (or you can call the church office at 780-481-1406). All money raised from the return of bottles goes towards paying down the principal and interest on our mortgage.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

PAR - Pre-Authorized Remittance is a direct debit program run by the United Church of Canada. It allows people to support their church through an automatic monthly withdrawal from their bank account. It follows the giver's wishes (give to local, M&S, etc.). If you wish to go on PAR, please the fill out the form on the literature carousel and give the form and a cheque marked “void” to the church office. We will do the rest! If you wish to change your PAR amount, contact the office and we will make the change for you.
We can accept donations by eTransfer. The contact name for the eTransfer is Spirit West United Church, and the email address is [email protected] . If you include a security question with your eTransfer, please notify Norma at the church office by phone or email of the answer.

August 25 - Outdoor Shine-up and Chow Down

Sunday, August 25 – “OUTDOOR SHINE-UP AND CHOW DOWN”!!
Rev. Lynn Maki will lead us in a short reflection in the sanctuary to inspire us to see what we can do to make our place where we offer ministry, look a little spiffier and thus more welcoming.
There will be some arduous tasks like cleaning the decks and weeding the boulevard and gardens. There will be some less demanding tasks such as picking up garbage and setting up a Water/Resting station. Finally, we will need some people for Lunch Preparation which will include ordering PIZZAS and picking up PIZZAS as well as setting up the “Make your own ice cream Sundae Station.
Hopefully, everyone can find a way to offer their personal skills and abilities so that in no time at all the outside of the church will be shining and we can all share in a lunch of pizza and ice cream sundaes.
You will need to bring outdoor chairs to sit in at lunch time, as well as tools to work with depending on what you volunteer to do. Gloves and garbage bags would also be helpful. You might want to wear gardening clothes or relaxed wear (according to the weather of course). If you haven’t already signed up, then just show up!

Sunday, August 18 – Travel Sunday
You are invited and encouraged to attend a service in another church. The idea is to be very aware of the similarities and differences between our church and the one you visit. Think too about your feelings when entering the new church and during their service and the end of the visit. If there is something that you see, experience and /or feel we’d love to hear about it. Try to capture ideas that we might like to try at Spirit West in terms of helping our congregation grow.

There will be some arduous tasks like cleaning the decks and weeding the boulevard and gardens. There will be some less demanding tasks such as picking up garbage and setting up a Water/Resting station. Finally, we will need some people for Lunch Preparation which will include ordering PIZZAS and picking up PIZZAS as well as setting up the “Make your own ice cream Sundae Station.
Hopefully, everyone can find a way to offer their personal skills and abilities so that in no time at all the outside of the church will be shining and we can all share in a lunch of pizza and ice cream sundaes.
You will need to bring outdoor chairs to sit in at lunch time, as well as tools to work with depending on what you volunteer to do. Gloves and garbage bags would also be helpful. You might want to wear gardening clothes or relaxed wear (according to the weather of course).
THE SIGN-UP sheets are on the table at the back and please indicate your favourite kind of pizza. Gluten free will also be ordered. Alternately, you can call the church office during office hours.

PAR - Pre-Authorized Remittance is a direct debit program run by the United Church of Canada. It allows people to support their church through an automatic monthly withdrawal from their bank account. It follows the giver's wishes (give to local, M&S, etc.). If you wish to go on PAR, please the fill out the form on the literature carousel and give the form and a cheque marked “void” to the church office. We will do the rest! If you wish to change your PAR amount, contact the office and we will make the change for you.
We can accept donations by eTransfer. The contact name for the eTransfer is Spirit West United Church, and the email address is [email protected] . If you include a security question with your eTransfer, please notify Norma at the church office by phone or email of the answer.
And remember that if you are not on PAR(Pre-Authorized Remittance) or even if you are, you can mail in cheques to the church office (Spirit West United Church, 7003 – 199 St. NW Edmonton, AB T5T 3A8, include your envelope number if you have one.)
You can drop off your offering/donation in the offering plate just inside the front doors or place it in the mailbox. You can also donate online by checking out the online donation option on our website spiritwest.org and click on the Donate tab in the navigation bar.
