THIS SUNDAY
This Sunday we move out of the Season of Creation, and back to Sundays after Pentecost. In some churches this is called Ordinary Time. The focus for this Sunday is prayer. It is something that is part of the Christian life, but is, I think, the cause of some confusion and misunderstanding. One fairly common form of prayer is saying grace before meals. A friend of mine at Emmanuel College told me the story of being at dinner with his in-laws. His father-in-law said grace, but said it so quietly and indistinctly that no one at the table was really sure what he was saying. My friend challenged him on this, explaining that no one had really heard or understood the grace. His father-in-law’s response was, “Well, I wasn’t talking to you!” What exactly is prayer? How do we pray? What do we expect when we pray?
The readings for Sunday are Exodus 32: 1-14 and Philippians 4: 1-19. The Time for All Ages is called “Wishes and Prayers.” I have titled the sermon, “Teach us to pray.”
MESSY CHURCH – Planning Meeting after Church
There will be a brief planning meeting in the Lounge right after church on Sunday to confirm dates and themes for upcoming Messy Churches. This will be right before the AED Training Lunch.

PRAYER CIRCLE
There is now a Spirit West Prayer Circle. We gather at the church on Thursday mornings at 10:30. We share a reading, share our stories or concerns, and pray. There is no “sign-up” for this, just come as you feel the need. If you are interested, join us on Thursdays.
CHALLENGES TO MOBILITY?
